Todd Glasgow Begins Duties as Superintendent of Schools
New superintendent Todd Glasgow won't officially begin his duties as superintendent until July 1st, but he has already been busy interviewing teacher applicants, visiting school sites, and meeting with Geary citizens. Recently he spoke to the Geary/Hinton Rotary Club and visited with Rotarians.
In addition, he and his wife, Shana, have been in the process of moving their family from Piedmont to Geary. The Glasgows have three children: Haden, a 9th grader; Max, a 6th grader, and Maggie, a 3rd grader. Mrs. Glasgow, a National Board Certified Teacher, will teach math at the Jr-Sr High School.
Mr. Glasgow, who was Piedmont High School principal for seven years and a finalist for State High School Principal of the Year, said he intends to focus on "collaboration and communication" as he assumes the school district's leadership role. "Another goal I have is to get as much technology in the hands of teachers and students as possible within our budget," he added.
Mr. Glasgow said he plans to seek out grants that provide additional money for academics and technology. He said the school district will continue to work on raising test scores on state mandated tests. He added that "reading is a key to success" and that one of his literacy goals is to "pump up" the amount of leisure reading done by students in all grade levels.
