Geary Chapter Earns Model of Excellence Title
Geary's Chapter of SkillsUSA has been named a Model of Excellence chapter for leadership, participation, and achievement in activities this school year. Only four schools in the state have earned the Model of Excellence, and Geary is the first high school in the state to claim the honor. The Geary chapter was also one of only three gold level SkillsUSA chapters in Oklahoma, and in June they will compete in Nationals for top six honors. State recognition came at the SkillsUSA Oklahoma state leadership conference. Geary students came home with an impressive array of awards at the state competition.
Tony Davidson, Dason Dutton, and Olivia Littleraven won State Runner-up (National Alternate) in Outstanding Chapter. Tucker Hicks, Allyssa Pineda, and Michael Blackcrow won State Runner-up (National Alternate) in Career Pathway Showcase Industrial Technology/Engineering Technology. Tucker Hicks, Art Lorentz, and Michael Blackcrow won State Runner-up (National Alternate) in Occupational Health and Safety. Dason Dutton won 3rd place in Small Engine Parts ID. Allyssa Pineda, Savannah Paukei, and Emily Leyva won 3rd place in American Spirit. Tony Davidson took 4th place in Customer Service. Jordan Smith won Honorable Mention in Laundry Folding and Sorting. Elliott Harrall, Mesa Flippo, and Emily Leyva served on the Courtesy Corps for the conference.
