Ms. Glasgow Takes on New Role as Counselor

Shana Glasgow is not a new faculty member with the Geary Schools, but she is in a new position. Ms. Glasgow is now the counselor for Geary Middle School and High School. She is originally from Purcell, and earned her Bachelor's degree in math education from Oklahoma State University. Two highlights of her time at OSU include spending a summer in Bulgaria on a mission trip teaching conversational English and being selected to serve as a homecoming executive for the best homecoming celebration in the nation! She earned her National Board Certification in AYA Mathematics in 2004 and renewed it by going through a recertification process in 2014. Ms. Glasgow's first teaching job was at Putnam City West High School for nine years, and from there she went to Deer Creek High School for three years, then to Piedmont for eight years and finally Geary for six years. During the past 26 years she has taught everything from 7th grade math up through AP Calculus. This year, she took on a new role as counselor for the middle school and high school. This meant she would need to get her Master’s in School Counseling, so she is now taking classes through SWOSU to earn the degree. Her first love is still math and she is staying connected to that by continuing to work with students who are taking concurrent math courses. She is also working as a state facilitator for the Math Ready course that the State Department of Education is trying to get all school districts to implement. Ms. Glasgow continues to serve as Student Council sponsor which allows her to work with the student leaders at our school to create a positive environment and memorable experiences for all our students. She is excited about the new things we are doing through our ICAP process and is looking forward to helping more students identify where it is they want to go and how to build a strong foundation that will lead them to reaching their goals. Ms. Glasgow has two sons and a daughter that she loves to support in their endeavors. Maggie is a freshman, Max a senior, and Haden a junior at OSU.
