Geary FFA Gears Up for Nov. 6 Auction
Launch the media gallery 1 playerThe annual farm labor auction will take place Tuesday, Nov. 6, at the Geary Agriplex. The event kicks off at 6:00 with a dinner featuring smoked pulled pork and other side dishes and desserts. Following the meal, FFA students will be up for auction with community members bidding on students to perform eight hours of labor that the bidder designates. The Farm Labor Sale has been going on for decades and is FFA's single biggest fundraiser The auction last year raised about $8,500. Devin Flanders, FFA advisor, said money raised goes to paying for students' dues and costs to attend various FFA events. Funds are also used to pay for materials and equipment used by students for various projects. Mr. Flanders said the Geary community has always supported the chapter year after year with their participation in the farm labor sale.
