HS Wrestlers to Compete at Duals State

Launch the media gallery 1 playerThe Zoo Wrestlers will compete for the Class 3A state title at Duals State Saturday, Feb. 14, at Cushing. The Geary/Watonga team, ranked 5th in the state, will first wrestle the #3-ranked school, Chandler. Head coach Jacob Peck commented, "If we defeat Chandler, which I think we can, we will more than likely face Perry, the current #2 school in the state. The team we'll have to beat to take state is #1-ranked Plainview." In other wrestling news, Coach Peck reports that the JH wrestlers placed 28th out of 154 teams at the JH State Tournament this past weekend. Two freshmen wrestlers medalled, with Kendall Johnson taking 4th place at 143-pound weight class and Jacob Muench placing 5th for the 200-pound weight class.
