74th Geary Invitational Tournament January 5-6
Hundreds of high school wrestlers from across Oklahoma and other states will compete in the 74th annual Geary Invitational Wrestling Tournament. Friday and Saturday, January 5th and 6th. The Geary Tournament is the oldest high school invitational wrestling tournament in the nation. This year's tournament will have over 400 matches in three big sessions. Non-stop wrestling begins at 10:00 a.m. Friday with no breaks. On Saturday, there will be a short break before the final matches start at 5:00. Challenge matches will follow the Finals for any weight class in which the 3rd place finisher has not wrestled the 2nd place winner. The schedule is as follows:
Friday - First session at 10:00 a.m. and throughout the day;
Saturday - Second session at 10:00 a.m. and Third session and Finals at 5:00 p.m. The Geary Invitational Hall of Fame induction will take place before the Finals at 4:45 p.m.
Twenty-three teams will be competing, including the three-time Geary Tournament champions, Blair Academy from Blairstown, N.J. The 2016 and 2017 Runner-up team, Tuttle High School, will compete at the tournament.
