GHS Art Students Win Judges' Choice Award in Chalk Art Contest
A team of GHS art students won a prestigious award for a chalk art masterpiece they completed at a recent chalk art festival. The team of Alyssa Sweezy, Cailyn Brown, Kaylee Scanlan and Maria Ramos received the Judges' Choice Award for grades 10-12 at the Montmartre festival held at the University of Science and Arts (USAO) in April. The Montmartre festival is named after the arts district in Paris that holds chalk art festivals. The USAO art faculty serves as judges for the contest that attracts 68 Oklahoma schools and colleges.
Students entering the contest are assigned a 6-foot square of sidewalk which will be their canvasses. They are allowed to enter as individuals or teams and are given four hours to complete their masterpieces.
