Geary Students Capture First Place Awards at Watonga Cheese Festival
Students in Ms. Michelle Branch's 1st, 3rd, and 4th hour Family and Consumer Science classes won first place awards for dishes and food items they prepared for the Watonga Cheese Festival in October. Other entries from Geary students placed 2nd and 3rd in the annual contest that requires students to prepare food items using cheese.
Winning first place in the main dish category were 1st hour students Madison Brungardt, Eliza Fussell, and Ciara Williams. They prepared Buffalo Chicken Macaroni and Cheese.
Third hour students Hope Espinoza, Emma Henke, Brianna Littleraven, Tra'chele Richard, and Irene Rodriguez won first place in the bread category for their Gouda Cheese Fondue with Herbed Crostini.
Seven students from 4th hour won first place in the salad with salad dressing category for their Mango and French Sheep Feta Cheese Salad. These students were: Maximilian Glasgow, Magdalene Cross, Hannah Fussell, Autumn Russell, Jordan Smith, Andrew Willey, and Devin Whiteman.
Placing 2nd in the vegetable category were 4th hour students Kacee Reding, Cameron Finney, Aimee Brown, Greyson Garrett, Landon Holt, Valeria Perez, and Aalycia Rhamy. They prepared Cheshire Cheese and Spring Onion Soup.
Fifth hour students Nicole Brogen, Damien Latham, Shelby Polk, Alexia Stanley, and Brittany Wann placed third in the snack category for Guacomole with Ricotta and Pomegranate.
