Geary High School commencement ceremonies were held Saturday, May 19, at 10:00 a.m. in the Field House. Fifteen seniors were in this year's graduating class of 2018. Valedictorian was Aivrie Drumm (far left). Co-salutatorians were Lea Leyva and Haley Maib. Aivrie is the daughter of Summer Jameson. She plans to attend SWOSU and major in business and physical therapy. Lea is the daughter of Jorge Leyva. She will enroll at UCO and major in early childhood education. Haley's parents are Jeff and Barbara Maib. She plans to attend USAO and earn a degree in speech pathology. Members of Geary High Schools's 2018 graduating class are: Christopher Albiston, Dupree Brown, Madison Brungardt, Aivrie Drumm, Reina Espinoza, Gavin Girard, Shelly Hatton, Lane Hicks, Kendell Johnson, Lea Leyva, Haley Maib, Josiah Marshall, Luis Mireles, Jose Perez, and Vanyell Rice.
High school and junior high students received National Honor Society certificates at the recent awards assembly. Students who are in the top 10 percent of the school according to grade point average become members of the National Honor Society. High school members are: (L-R) Haley Maib, Aivrie Drumm, Molly Cox, Kaylee Drumm, Camryia Ewing, Gillian Girard, and Max Glasgow. Junior high members shown in the photo below are: Marc Perez, Ethan Jameson, Hunter Yeakey, Victoria Mars, Emily Leyva, Daphne Base, Maggie Glasgow, and Elliott Harrall.
The final Students of the Month for the school year have been selected. Named as April/May Students of the Month were: senior Lea Leyva, sophomore Jose Briseno, and sixth graders Keeley Hicks and Hunter Yeakey.
